Hello,
It would be nice to have the ability to create user-defined filters through the API. It seems that the FEM-Design API does not currently support this feature. I tried working with Struxml and managed to create a user-defined filter, but after importing the Struxml into FD, the filter did not appear.
Really nice idea! It seems a valuable feature to implement. I have added the request to our pipeline. Github Issue
However, I tried to to save a model with filters in the .struxml format, I then tried to open it and it seems to work. Can you please send me your file or a smaller version where I can replicate the issue?
I see that I did not provide the correct problem . Yes, it works when I open the model, but what doesn’t work is when I merge or update the model. I get the changes done to objects elements, but not the filter. What I am doing is creating a Struxml file from a model, then working with that file, making changes or updates to some bars, and finally merging the model with that file. My idea was to group all the changed objects into a filter, so that I can later visually see them in FD.
How do you merge the two models? Are you using a specific FEM-Design functionality?
Sorry to ask but I might need to open a ticket for our developer la and I need to be sure I understand the steps.
It seems a FEM-Design issue. not YET api issue
I am using FEM-Design functionality, Edit>Merge. Yes, I think this might be FEM-Design issue. But in the first case I was thinking, creating and managing user defined filters directly through FEM-Design API it would be nice. And hopefully Strusoft will do something with Merge-issue.
If it just for visual purpose and the ability to easily access the elements you just created or did changes to you might be able to just give those objects a unique “Identifier” instead of the default ones:
